Coming through The Ultimate Fighter and later becoming one of the top featherweights in the UFC, the quirky Bryce Mitchell has earned the love of many mixed martial arts fans around the world.
The Arkansas native had been within reach of a possible title shot before his last fight, but he came up short. It was a bad decision to fight a dangerous man like Josh Emmett on short notice. ‘Thug Nasty,’ as he is known as the ring name of this bout, suffered one of the worst knockouts in the history of the sport.
Mitchell, despite the crushing loss, has shown grace in defeat. He has shared a few words now, thanking Emmett that he did not cause potentially fatal damage to his body with subsequent shots.
Mitchell, who lost at UFC 296, said in a video that he was “so happy” with Emmett. “Right when he knocked my out, he was able to follow up with the Hammer fist which probably would have killed him.”
He didn’t follow up at all, you know. He was happy with the knockout and left. I am so grateful for this. I will never forget that. Josh, thank you for not hitting more than usual.
Bryce Mitchell thanked Joe Rogan and Dana White for their care of him.
