Dan Ige, whose wife was due to give birth any minute, knew that he needed to beat his opponent quickly at UFC Vegas86 on Saturday.
The featherweight ranked 15th in the world delivered a highlight reel finish in his first round against his teammate and opponent Andre Fili. Just before hitting the halfway point, Fili threw an uninspired jab that gave ’50k’ the perfect opportunity to unleash his signature right hand.
Fili, who had landed a clean blow, fell to the canvas. He was unable protect himself against one last blow before the referee rushed in to call for a stoppage.
Official Result: Dan Ige def. Andre Fili by KO (right-hand) at 2 minutes 43 seconds of the first round
