NEW YORK (April 29, 2024)– Former world title challenger Jessica Camara scored a huge win as she defeated undefeated and former two-division world champion Myun Hi Choi to win the WBA Gold Championship via split decision in Choi’s home country of South Korea.
Camara, who was just beaten by unified champion Kali Reis in a split-decision fight, was able dominate Choi and take control of the match from the start.
Camara, who is represented by Split-T Management, Brian Cohen, adds another impressive win to her impressive record, which includes victories over Dalila Vasquez (5-1) as well as former world champion Heather Hardy (22-1). Camara’s record is now 13-4.
Choi won her first professional bout as a WBA featherweight at the age of 17 and then went on to defend that title seven times. Choi moved up to the WBA Super Featherweight and won that title. She then made seven defenses. Choi’s record is now 22-0-1.
