USA Boxing announced that it will begin accepting transgender athletes to the sport.

According to a new ‘Transgender Policy‘ written in August 2022 and to be officially implemented on January 1, 2024, transgender boxers will undergo consistent testing and be required to meet a series of conditions to become and remain eligible. A biological man who identifies with a transgender female must, for example, have had gender reassignment surgeries and a testosterone level of less than five nanomoles/liter over the past two years and in competitions.

In contrast, a woman who is biologically male but identifies with a transgender identity must be post-op. Her testosterone level should also have been higher than ten nanomol/L over the past two years and in competitions.

If a transgender athlete is found to be in violation of this policy, they will be banned from competing for an entire year.
