Justin Gaethje’s parents were in the crowd when he suffered what many are calling the most brutal knockout in UFC history.
Gaethje, who was defending his BMF belt at UFC 300 against former featherweight champion Max Holloway suffered an early setback when his nose was broken by a perfectly-timed spinning kick from Holloway.
Gaethje, despite the injury early on in the match, put his best foot forth and hung around with one of the most legendary strikers from MM’s history. Holloway told the men that they should stand together in the center of the field and hold hands until the final whistle. Gaethje obliged, throwing caution to the wind and going toe-to-toe with ‘Blessed’ in the proverbial phone booth.
Moments later, ‘The Highlight’ would become exactly that.
Holloway’s booming right overhand, which connected cleanly with Gaethje and sent him crashing down to the floor with one second remaining on the clock. Undoubtedly, it was one of UFC’s most impressive and terrifying knockouts.
